On August 6, 2020, Presiding Judge Kevin Brazile of the Los Angeles County Superior Court announced the expansion of remote courtroom appearances in hundreds of Los Angeles County Criminal and Family Law Courtrooms. Now the courts are equipped to offer video arraignments and preliminary hearings in 32 criminal courtrooms. This expansion to prioritize remote appearance options throughout Los Angeles County is designed to achieve social distancing during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
