|

Sheriff Alex Villanueva has announced an opportunity for residents of Norwalk, La Mirada, and unincorporated Whittier to convert qualifying warrants to a citation to appear in court. Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department – Norwalk Station is hosting its first warrant event on February 13, 2019 at the Liberty Community Plaza located at 14181 Telegraph Road, Whittier, 90604 from 7:00am to 1:00pm.

This event will be an opportunity for qualifying defendants to clear an outstanding warrant for traffic and non-violent misdemeanors and be issued a citation to appear in court. At the event, the qualifying defendants must show ID and then they will be issued a new court date to appear and resolve the case in court, removing the warrant from the system.

Ineligible offenses include felonies, violent misdemeanors, drug possession cases, burglary, petty theft offenses, and forgery.

This event is a good opportunity to address outstanding warrants but it is best to have the advice of counsel in order to assess the risks and benefits involved.
