Successful "Prop. 47 Motion" - Felony Reduced to Misdemeanor

Today, from the Superior Courthouse in Torrance, I received the docket
recording a "Prop. 47" misdemeanor reduction that I filed on
behalf of a client. He had a felony conviction for possession of a controlled
substance in violation of Health and Safety code section 11350(a). Prior
to "Prop. 47", that charge was a straight felony that could
not be reduced per Penal Code section 17(b). So a person would remain
a felon for life. Now, Prop. 47 allows for a misdemeanor reduction. This
is great for my client's reputation and job prospects since he is
no longer a felon. Keep in mind Prop. 47 does not restore all rights.
